You're Guide to Botanical Skincare
The notion of swapping out toxic chemical products has been a value I've started to live by. This increased awareness bring product labels front and center and consumers have an even larger responsibility to know what types of ingredients are in their products today. That goes hand in hand with skincare. After all, our largest organ, our skin, is taking the brunt of our daily habits and I'm here to shed some light on your skincare regimen.
Plant based botanicals, herbalism, and nature based products have been getting alot of attention lately, and for good reason. When we start to understand the "why" behind our choices and dig deeper into uncovering all the benefits of these alternative options, they become even more powerful.
The Basics
Botanical ingredients and plant-derived additives, are known for their healing and medicinal properties. "The father of naturopathy", Sebastian Kneipp, was one of the first people to commercialize the use of healing plants. Today, botanical products can be used in a variety of ways in skincare and bath/body products, often in a preventative nature.
Many botanicals:
- Promote hydration
- Reduce inflammation and prevent bacteria buildup
- Antioxidant benefits including the fight against premature aging, protection against UV rays and free radicals
- Enhance physiological processes that help us stay balanced and connected to our natural rhythms
Botanicals for Skincare
Some of the most common and well used botanicals are below.
Aloe Vera
Scientists have discovered over 200 nutritional substances in Aloe Barbadensis leaves, including 20 minerals, 20 amino acids, 12 vitamins, and active enzymes. It can soothe skin and serve as an anti-inflammatory, with burn healing effects, scar reducing and wounds healing properties. Aloe protects the skin from UV damage. Check out our Hyaluronic Facial Serum that has a touch of aloe extract and holds up to 1,000x the moisture content!
Chamomile contains essential oils and flavonoids (antioxidants) used by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans for centuries to treat asthma, colic, inflammations, nausea, skin diseases, and cancer. Stay tuned for our newly created "Chamomile Cleanser", coming soon!

Jojoba Oil enhances barrier repair properties and skin’s healing ability. This is the main ingredient in our "Facial Oil".
